Sean W. Dever Memorial Prize 2018

MARCH 9, 2018 The William F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research in Jerusalem is pleased to announce the winner of the seventeenth annual competition for the Sean W. Dever Memorial Prize. This award offers $650 for the best published article or paper presented at a conference by a Ph.D. candidate in Syro-Palestinian or Biblical Archaeology. Authors may be of any nationality but the article or paper must be in English. The winner this year is the paper by Andrew Burlingame, a PhD candidate in Northwest Semitic Philology in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago. His paper—“Line Five of the Amman Citadel Inscription: History of Interpretation and a New Proposal”—was published in the Bulletin of the American Schools of Oriental Research 376 (2016): 63–82. The Sean W. Dever Prize was established in 2001 by Mrs. Norma Dever and Professor William G. Dever, in memory of their son Sean.
